Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu Server 9.04 x64 Jaunty, console-kit-daemon is using over 750MB
of memory, 38% of the available 2GB. There is no obvious reason for
this, the system in question is a router which sees little user
activity.

The basic software set being used: DHCP3, BIND9, squid, iptables,
vnstat, apache/php/mysql (for vnstat-php), sshd

Here's all the relevant information I can think of:

$ ps aux
USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND
...
root      3018  0.7 38.8 860776 776292 ?       Ssl  Jun12 899:42
/usr/sbin/console-kit-daemon
...

$ uptime
02:52:03 up 83 days,  6:22,  2 users,  load average: 0.03, 0.06, 0.01

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
