Public bug reported: Filenames of the form UPPER.ext UPPER.EXT and lower.EXT are shown as upper.ext, upper.ext, upper.ext (if in 8.3 FAT format):
http://img.xrmb2.net/images/216437.png (comparison XP vs. Karmic Alpha 5). I don't expect the system to confuse me by the way it deals with capitalization. It's even more confusing when creating a file TEST.TXT: it will show in upper case system wide until I remount the media. I understand that upper case _extensions_ can cause problems with applications under Linux but IMO the current solution seems to overshoot. This seems to be default in Karmic (Alpha 5) and did not happen in Jaunty (Alpha 4). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- System forces lower case on 8.3 filenames on FAT media https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/424246 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
