Public bug reported:

Filenames of the form UPPER.ext UPPER.EXT and lower.EXT are shown as
upper.ext, upper.ext, upper.ext (if in 8.3 FAT format):

I don't expect the system to confuse me by the way it deals with
capitalization. It's even more confusing when creating a file TEST.TXT:
it will show in upper case system wide until I remount the media. I
understand that upper case _extensions_ can cause problems with
applications under Linux but IMO the current solution seems to
overshoot.

This seems to be default in Karmic (Alpha 5) and did not happen in
Jaunty (Alpha 4).
