Attached is a scripted dump of gdb running pulseaudio through the crash.
The salient bits are:

In other words, this binary contains SSE2 instructions (PACKSSDW) and thus does 
not work on my Pentium III-m equipped IBM ThinkPad T23... that processor 
supports SSE but not SSE2.
