If headset is inserted, the kernel seems to recognize it. But Ubuntu is
not changing the internal audio connection. If I go to system ->
settings ->  audio and change there the audio settings manually, then I
get  sound on the headset ear-plugs. The same for the headset
microphone.

This is very inconvenient, especially if you use skype all the day long.
In other OS the audio connection is set up automatically.

In my opinion, that is a bug!
