Public bug reported: Since I upgraded to linux kernel 2.6.24-24, I can't start Gnome using that kernel version. The only way is to start the 2.6.24-23 kernel, then everything works as usual. In 2.6.24-24, after I enter my username and password, I just see a white screen and the mouse pointer. Interestingly, I can switch to the other desktops using Ctrl+Alt+Right/Left, but all those desktops are just white screens. When I kill the X Server, I see my background image for about half of a second and then I can log in again.
