** Description changed: This just started recently. The problem is that when I am typing, e.g., in the URL address text or this text box, firefox will freeze for seconds at a time, and the system shows a very high (80%-100%) IO wait state. Once that clears up, a second or few later, typing continues, until it freezes again, which takes a matter of seconds. This does not seem to happen with some apps, such as gedit, gnome terminal, xterm or xchat, but is CONSTANT with firefox and pidgin, to name some. - So far, it appears that I can isolate this behavior to using a USB - keyboard. I have tried several keyboards, albeit of the same model, to - make sure that it is it not a single keyboard. Something happens, and - an entire core locks up in IOWAIT state. It does not happen if I boot - the same hardware into Fedora 11 or Ubuntu Hardy through Jaunty. + Something happens, and an entire core locks up in IOWAIT state. If anyone has ideas on how to narrow this down further, or gather better forensic data, please let me know.
