A tip. I have the same problem on one of my servers (ubuntu 9.04, openssh-server 1:5.1p1-5ubuntu1).
This machine is running on a openVZ server-farm. One thing I've noticed is that sometimes the machine don't have rights on /dev/null. After struggling on my machine for 3 hours I checked /dev/null. An "sudo chmod 777 /dev/null" makes sftp works againg. -- sftp subsystem dies when requested https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/402734 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
