It is likely that this bug is caused by bugs in an xorg-related package.
A lot of those bugs has been fixed in Karmic, the current development
release. Could you please test if this bug is present on Karmic? A
recent LiveCD can be obtained from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/
, but also alpha-5 should have most of the recent fixes:
