Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcc-4.3

I try to cross-compile the linux kernel 2.6.30.5 (frm kernel.org) on a x86 host
for a arm-plattform.
I have installed all needed packages (gcc-4.3-base-armel-cross,...) from karmic.

I do:
ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=/usr/bin/arm-linux-gnu- make zImage
...
  LD vmlinux.o
  MODPOST vmlinux.o
  GEN .version
  CHK include/linux/compile.h
  UPD include/linux/compile.h
  CC init/version.o
  LD init/built-in.o
  LD .tmp_vmlinux1
/usr/bin/arm-linux-gnu-ld: no machine record defined
/usr/bin/arm-linux-gnu-ld: no machine record defined
make: *** [.tmp_vmlinux1] Fehler 1

** Affects: gcc-4.3 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
