My problem may be unrelated (because I'm running PowerPC) but I have NOT
experienced the shutdowns in the four months since I upgraded to Dapper
6.06.1. Because it's a random condition I can never be absolutely sure
BUT I have been doing everything that (in previous kernels) would have
resulted in at least one shutdown every day or two.

I am not yet sure whether Edgy or later kernels will even boot this
beast (1998 PowerBook G3 Series, AKA "Wallstreet II" or "PDQ") but it is
nonetheless an unsupported "oldworld" Mac. I have another PowerPC G3 I
want to try, but it's also unsupported.
