This bug still persist in Jaunty when using Thunderbird + Enigmail + gpg --use-agent.
It can be also experienced when you try to change passphrase of already created PGP key within Seahorse. Synopsis: 0) Launch Seahorse 1) Right-click on your PGP key -> Properties 2) Change Passphrase 3) Passphrase dialog is displayed, however, keyboard input does not work 4) Click Cancel 5) Another Passphrase dialog is displayed (a different one, something like retry dialog), keyboard input works Quickfix for Thunderbird + Enigmail As written by Micah Cowan, you have to launch Thunderbird with GPG_AGENT_INFO variable unset.
