This issue has been resolved in karmic. In yjaunty you can use the
following workaround:
1. Install samba:
$ sudo apt-get install samba
2. Set a URL handler for smb (for each user):
$ gconftool-2 --set --type=string /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/smb/command
'nautilus "%s"'
$ gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/smb/enabled true
$ gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/smb/need-terminal
false
Instead of giving an error, when a user tries to connect to a smb server by
host name or host IP nautilus will open a smb://host/ window showing all shares.
** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu)
