I just tested this by booting 9.10 USB disk with a 9.04 CD inserted into
the drive. I was able to eject the CD just fine. It sounds like you
accidentally booted from the CD instead of the USB disk. Marking as
Invalid. Feel free to reopen it if you can reproduce this issue in
karmic.
