its called sudo and it can be found in the ubuntu-restricted-extras. in command line type
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras sudo being the password that you use to login my opinion about mixxx is it needs heavy development. i am a kubuntu user and i never got sound to work wiht it i never could, also it would constantly freeze and crash on me.
