Where did you find this option exactly, exact steps please? I looked and
only found what is called 'vertical text' not 'vertical legend' as an
option to add to the toolbar. And if that is the one you mean it is only
meant for Asian languages (see the help documentation for 'vertical
text') and won't show up unless you have the document set to an Asian
language setting, which is why if you select it automatically deselects
itself.
