I've manually changed the permissions on all cd-burning-tools I could
find. Like for instance cdrecord cdrdao etc.. I think I also had to
change the permissions of /dev/cdrom and/or similar.

Stuff works now. A bit curious if this really is necessary on a fresh
install, or what could have changed the permissions here.
