Public bug reported: Binary package hint: synaptic
I'm new to Ubuntu and don't really know what I'm supposed to do, but here goes...I installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix on an Acer One ZG5 as a dual boot with Windows XP a month or so ago from a download I made at that time. Last week while I was doing a regular Ubuntu update, it hung up without completing the updates. I tried to open Synaptic later and got the message, "an error occurred E:dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem E:_cache->open()failed, please report " I waited a few days before taking a deep breath and doing what I thought I was being told in the "sudo" stuff...it appeared to work and from the stuff I saw on the screen, it looked like the problem might have had something to do with flash player...I will say that I had problems getting videos to play from some sites a while prior to this incident and tried clicking the missing plug-in thing at the top of the screen but that never completely installed and I gave up on it, so perhaps I pulled out of a partial flash install? Anyway, the error message said to report it and after some searching I found this method of reporting, so there ya' go. I hope this isn't too nonsensical.
