I'm trying to record sound using the soundrecorder, but it doesn't work.
Pressing the record button twice causes the application to hang.
I try to play sound using the Listen Music player, and the Movie player,
but no sound. I try to play an mp3. I have tried using the ubuntu
volume control, alsamixer, and xfce4-mixer to change the volumes. It
doesn't help.
I had sound working before summer, but I think maybe one of the (kernel)
updates has made it stop working. I can't go back to an older kernel as
I had to remove them because of a small boot partition.
