Summary : [Karmic] Changing resolution with compiz enable can lead to a
blank screen with only the movable mouse drawn.

I can reproduce a bug that is quite the same on karmic up to date.

Steps :
- Use a screen with a resolution lower than 2048x2048
- Open gnome-display-properties on use an other tool to activate a
configuration with resolution higher than 2048x2048. I used a dual head of
1024x768+1280x200. Validate
- The screen goes black, and the mouse will be correctly drawn.

Hardware : Intel GMA950 which support texture resolution up to 2048x2048.
Software : no xorg.conf is used, no virtual display or thing like that.

The trouble : compiz only detect maximum texture resolution at startup,
and if the resolution change, it won't display the desktop, and won't
launch metacity.

This bug is linked to Bug #146298, Bug #383345, Bug #135418 and Bug
#420599.
