If this is the same issue I saw, the resulting symlinks were barely
functional enough to start things that link against libaxis (ldd against
/usr/lib/apache2/modules/libmod_axis2.so.0.6.0 was returning "not found"
for the various other axis libraries).

This meant that Eucalyptus init scripts couldn't start, so package
upgrades failed and the only way to complete the upgrade from jaunty to
karmic was to purge libaxis2c0 and re-install it.
