When Evolution is restarted, the count resets to zero. However, while it remains running, it always increases. In this case, it's been running for roughly an hour. I maintain my mailbox as messages come in, most of the time, so my inbox stays relatively empty. At most, it has 50 messages that I haven't processed/looked at yet.
