I don't have any problems with Skype sound any more after the latest update of Skype. There is now PulseAudio support. If you still have problems and haven't updated yet, try it. It's still a "beta" version, but having sound without problems is a lot more important to me than the occasional glitch. http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/linux/choose/
