Hi Jason, Do you by chance know which kernel version is being used with Fedora Core 11? The reason I ask is that the latest Karmic 9.10 Alpha release uses the most recent 2.6.31 kernel.
I do understand your frustration for not having you bug addressed, and for that I apologize. However, maybe I can explain why there's always updated calls for testing, especially when dealing with kernel bugs. . . . 1) Bugs against the kernel are almost always hardware specific. As a result we often need cooperation from reporters to test and verify bugs. I myself unfortunately do not have a keyboard with a PS/2 connection to test with. 2) When dealing with the kernel please do keep in mind that there are literally thousands of patches between releases. Just looking between the 2.6.28 Jaunty kernel and the 2.6.31 Karmic kernel there are over 37,000 commits. That's an incredible amount of changes which could have fixed the issue at hand but also extremely difficult for anyone to sift through to isolate a single commit which may have resolved an issue. 3) It's always a good idea to keep kernel bug reports as up to date as possible. That way when a developer is able to address a bug, they have the most relevant information to help debug. 4) And yes, responses to the kernel-janitor are being monitored for feedback. So thanks for at least replying. Hope that helps explain a little. Let me know if you'd still like to keep this bug open as I noticed you mentioned this is not longer an issue for you since switching to a USB keyboard. -- Please reduce onscreen display of unknown-keycode messages; they're annoying https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289987 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
