For some odd reason I did not receive the message from Kernel-janitor asking me to try out the latest release and the latest upstream kernel. Downloading a new CD iso for Kubuntu could be a bit of a problem (tend to get download times suggested in days not hours) but I will try a new kernel in the next few days. Currently i am on kubuntu9.04 (Ubuntu 9.04, kernel 2.6.28-15-generic) so I will retest with this first when I get access to a modem again. If that still fails I will install the latest kernel and see what happens
