Public bug reported:

i am using Ubuntu 9.04 on a Medion akoya p8610.
what i expect: put cd in laptop. boot. choose try ubuntu... ubuntu starts up.
done
what happend: put cd in laptop. boot. choose try ubuntu... kernelpanic.
my work around: (from a ubuntu help forum) boot with cd. hit f6. replace quiet
splash with acpi=off nopic pnpbios=off
that way ubuntu boots without the splash screen an all kinds of letters and
stuff comes raining down. after that i can work with live cd.
