I can probably install the kernel, but I won't have access to a suitable
broadband connection for a few days.  I'm at a rural work location, and
downloads bog down the company internet connection badly.  It's very slow in
any case, but it's the best the phone company can provide out here, and
we're lucky to have any DSL at all.  I also had planned to wait for the
actual release of Karmic before installing it, because I need a working
computer.  Jaunty works well enough, and changing kernels is pretty simple
and reversible if one doesn't work.
