Did you read my response from March 3?

With this motherboard, a PATA (IDE) drive always seems to take 
precedence over a SATA drive. If you install an operating system
on the SATA drive without the PATA drive present, and then install the
PATA drive, the disk partition numbers will change and the installed
operating system won't boot.

It appears to me that you can't add or remove a PATA drive once you've 
installed an operating system on a SATA drive.
