I ran the kvm command with the -cpu qemu32 added and there was no difference.
I removed qemu and ran kvm - no difference. Here is the out of the 2 date commands, the run of kvm without qemu installed, and cat /proc/cpuinfo. There was about a 5 second delay for me get back to the screen and run the 2nd date command. The long startup time is still there.
