I solved it few days after reporting, sorry for not sharing the solutions (found browsing ubuntu's forum) :
"- One more update: at some point it seemed that the sound was distorting again. In fact, the problem is that I was using too high volume levels. Checking this forum post and this guide, I've managed to get a configuration that seems to work fine. Use alsamixer to set the PCM level to below 50, and use only the Master channel to control the volume.
