Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

While testing Feisty Herd 3 I attempted to change the screen resolution
using the Gnome "Screen Resolution" tool. Although it correctly detected
that my card/monitor are capable of 1440x900 I couldn't change it above
the (initial) 1024x768 without rendering corruption.

Card:

0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility
X700 (PCIE) (prog-if 00 [VGA])
Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI]: Unknown device 007f

Monitor:

Acer 17" WXGA CrystalBrite LCD

Note: I realise this sounds very similar to #42842, however the
description is slightly different and this is on feisty, so I'm not sure
this is the same.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
