"Then why not inform users which entry is most common and pre-select it in the list"
It already does: http://people.canonical.com/~evand/screenshots/ubiquity/1.12.3/3-keyboard.png 1) it shows deprecated or totally strange layouts that no one uses I disagree. People cite some real figures rather than making blanket assertions. 2) it doesn't say which one is the normal choice As I stated above, it does. This is the "suggested option." 3) it does not preselect based on choosed language/timezone It does. I went through an install using the 20090917.1 daily live CD (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/) and selecting Polish for the language and Poland for the time zone provided me with a default keyboard selection of "Poland", which is a qwerty layout. I'm marking this bug invalid, but please feel free to reopen it if you can show me a screenshot of it conflicting with the points I've raised. If you do reopen the bug and provide a screenshot, please also run the installer in debug mode (`ubiquity -d` in a terminal window), and attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/installer/debug to this report. Thanks! ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- Ubuntu installation asks stupid questions confusing new users.
