Mic starts to work after runing AlsaUpgrade-1.0.x-rev-1.17.sh [1] which downloads and compiles ALSA version 1.0.20. The recorded sound is a bit scrachy/noisy though. I have an Acer Aspire 5520G with an NVidia MCP67 HDAudio (ALC268 Analog).
