Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I am unable to configure my monitors using System -> Preferences ->
Display using a fresh installation of Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 6.

My graphics card is a Radeon HD 4850 and two monitors are attached to the
system:
- BenQ G2400WD, native resolution of 1920x1200, attached over HDMI
- Samsung SyncMaster 930BF, native resolution 1280x1024, attached over DVI

On first startup, both displays came up in mirror mode, showing the same
with a resolution of 1280x1024.

Disabling mirror mode and setting higher resolution on the BenQ prompts
to set the virtual resolution. After accepting it asks to logout and
back in again.

After logging out and back in however, nothing has changed, mirror mode
is still enabled with both displays running at 1280x1024.
