The plan was to remove them. You can see this in the specification
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareStore>, in the various sentences
containing the phrase "the path button should contain" or "the path
button should consist".

The way the breadcrumb buttons work in Nautilus is unreasonably
confusing. In the near future we will change the appearance of the
Store's path button so that it looks more obviously like a hierarchy of
where you are, rather than Nautilus's idea of a list of where you have
been recently.
