Public bug reported: Binary package hint: udev
Tried to install from a Karmic Alpha 6 CD (Server Edition, i386) on my home-server machine (which previously ran Hardy LTS). The machine is based on a "via pc2500e" motherboard (info here http://www.via.com.tw/en/initiatives/empowered/pc2500_mainboard/index.jsp#spec ) with a cdrom attached to the first master IDE controller and two SATA disks attached to the SATA controller: the controller is configured to show the disks as ide and to leave the raid configuration to the software (I used fakeraid) When it arrives to the disk detection, it says that's unable to find any disk device and asks to select for the right module to load. I think the bug is related to udev, because syslog says: Sep 22 19:47:24 udevd[731]: NAME="%k" is superfluous and breaks kernel supplied names, please remove it from /lib/udev/rules.d/40-ppc.rules:3 Sep 22 19:47:24 udevd[731]: NAME="%k" is superfluous and breaks kernel supplied names, please remove it from /lib/udev/rules.d/40-ppc.rules:4 Sep 22 19:47:24 udevd[731]: NAME="%k" is superfluous and breaks kernel supplied names, please remove it from /lib/udev/rules.d/40-ppc.rules:5 Sep 22 19:47:24 udevd[731]: unknown key 'SYMLINK{unique}' in /lib/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules:3 Sep 22 19:47:24 udevd[731]: unknown key 'SYMLINK{unique}' in /lib/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules:4 Sep 22 19:47:24 udevd[731]: can not read '/lib/udev/rules.d/65-dmsetup-udeb.rules' Sep 22 19:47:24 udevd[731]: NAME="%k" is superfluous and breaks kernel supplied names, please remove it from /lib/udev/rules.d/40-ppc.rules:3 Sep 22 19:47:24 udevd[731]: NAME="%k" is superfluous and breaks kernel supplied names, please remove it from /lib/udev/rules.d/40-ppc.rules:4 Sep 22 19:47:24 udevd[731]: NAME="%k" is superfluous and breaks kernel supplied names, please remove it from /lib/udev/rules.d/40-ppc.rules:5 Sep 22 19:47:24 udevd[731]: unknown key 'SYMLINK{unique}' in /lib/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules:3 Sep 22 19:47:24 udevd[731]: unknown key 'SYMLINK{unique}' in /lib/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules:4 I attached the entire syslog and hardware infos. ** Affects: udev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Karmic Server Alpha 6 CD can't detect SATA hard drives and can't install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434868 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
