Public bug reported:

(Also for running GTK apps under Kubuntu)

If you're running ubuntu-desktop, it should setup your kde settings so
that QT apps expect double clicks for opening folders and stuff in the
save/open dialogs (this is an option KDE supports and can be set in the
mouse preferences in KDE control). Similarly it'd be nice if kubuntu-
desktop automatically set it so that GTK apps responded to a single
click for opening folders (I don't know if this is supported by
Gnome/GTK).

Of course, an even better solution would be if the open/save dialogs
were factored out somehow so that you saw the open/save dialog
appropriate for your desktop, but that's quite a bit more work ;P

(<rant>Another solution would be Gnome having a file open/save dialog
that wasn't terrible</rant>)

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
