Binary package hint: network-manager
When establishing a connection with NetworkManager & nm-applet,
/etc/resolv.conf is not being written with any nameservers, and so
although a connection is fully established, I have to manually edit the
resolver file to add a known public nameserver to be able to use it.
Karmic.
Annoyingly, it works occasionally.
Over a 3G Mobile Broadband USB device, if it matters.
