Public bug reported:

After upgrading to 2.6.20-7-generic, NetworkManager/nm-applet does not
recognise any network interface. I have wired and a wireless interfaces,
and nm-applet reports "No network connection".

Nevertheless the wired interface successfully negotiated an DHCP IP
address, and attached.

I am unsure on where the problem actually is -- hal, udev, dbus, NM, or
the interface between them and NM.

I have NM running with debug set. ON 2.6.20.60-generic, this is what NM
reported:

Feb 8 17:23:44 xango NetworkManager: <information>^Istarting...

(and so on).

And it stops. Perhaps related, the report of a failed core dump
