I have the kernel build just before yours and I'm running the x86 kernel
and my 5300 works fine.
$uname -a:
Linux sreyan-laptop 2.6.31-10-generic #34-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 16 00:23:19 UTC
2009 i686 GNU/Linux
whereas yours is
Linux chundachunda 2.6.31-10-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep 22 17:33:14 UTC
2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
relevant ls-pci line:

Can anyone see if this is specific to builds >= 2.6.31-10-generic #35
or specific to the amd64 kernel?
