Argh. The rule change didn't seem to make a difference, but I think that the Ipod had somehow become corrupt. I reset/reformated the Ipod using iTunes on a windows machine and now (most) everything seems to work. At least everything that I have tried.
The reformated iPod works for both the old rule and the new rule. I'm not sure why. P.I.C.N.I.K. - Problem In Chair, Not in Karmic. Thanks for your help. Please close this bug.
