I switched to Skype v2.1 beta a couple of weeks ago and since then I have had no further sound problems. I have had no other crashes either, and some new features improve the skype experience. xq19space, I recommend that you install the latest skype before thinking about ditching Pulse. Pulse is very much part of Ubuntu now and removing it will likely cause you more problems.
