The actual version in official repos are
jaunty 4.0.2.
karmic 4.0.3
The file format change is as follow:
hb 4.0 = xhb file v0.2
hb 4.0.1 = xhb file v0.3
...
hb 4.1 = xhb file v0.4
but i do not test version the preferences, and that's maybe the problem.
and if you test the 2 karmic and delete the .homebank/preference file ?
