An unnecessarily accusive tone. This bug report was from 9 months ago, but I installed the package via Synaptic. I did not explicitly remove python-tagpy, or decide not to install the recommended packages.
The real issue I was reporting was that functionality in the program did not work as installed, AND the error message displayed did not give a helpful error message. I just removed python-tagpy to see what the exact error is (Sonata 1.5.3, Jaunty): "Taglib and/or tagpy not found, tag editing support disabled" This is a crap error message. If the program isn't going to have a dependency on the libraries needed, then the Ubuntu packages should be patched to give useful error messages in this case. How about: "Taglib and/or tagpy not found. To enable tag editing support, install the 'python-tagpy' package" It's still not ideal, but it implies that tagging support is disabled, and informs how tag editing support can be enabled in a way that is directly useful to an Ubuntu user. -- python-tagpy should be added as a dependancy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312352 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
