GDB backtrace for devicekit-power-daemon is attached. The daemon crashes
with a SIGPIPE (broken pipe) error.

Could this be because of the negative value for 'Capacity granularity 2'
contained in this machine's broken DSDT table in BIOS? Unfortunately, I
can't fix this by overriding the DSDT, since the capability to do this
in the initramfs is not present in the 2.6.31 kernel used in Karmic. I
hope it will be added back.
