I had the same problem after a fresh install of karmic a6. Started client, browser shows 'add this computer', click, client exits. Repetition yields the same. This behavior occurred with version that ships with a6, and the newest available from the karmic repositories. There is a workaround for this: start client, right-click icon, preferences, set 'show icon' to always - a click on 'add this computer' now will get the initial sync going.
