What about the speed for the windows key - tab animations? All those animations appear to take almost one second. Did you look at those?
In addition, I think you've been using it for long enough you are conditioned to the slow experience. It might take you a few days to get used to the fast speeds. Because of my hardware, it has been something I've only recently been able to try out, and so I notice the lag. Or maybe you spend all your time in Firefox and this slow launchpad ;-) and so don't mess with windows as much as I do. I hate waiting on my computer, and think it is morally wrong for devices that are meant to serve us to intentionally slow us down. I'll bet the number of people have asked for 250 ms lag when *Compiz is turned off* is very small. As for only being able to do frames in 33ms, can that value be improved? A video game can do much more complicated modeling and graphical work in 10-20 ms. Maybe if you can increase the frame rate, it will seem more polished. Perhaps that should be done independent of this. Is the 33ms hard-coded somewhere? But even so, whether 3 or 10 frames, it is meant to be subtle. A number of the animations fiddle with the transparency as well which seems to imply that if you miss it, it doesn't matter -- which is true. Anyway, as long as people are aware and work to minimize the delays, I'll consider that progress.
