[SOLVED} Humble apologies! Please cancel Bug #437262. I have just trawled launchpad articles & questions [again] and solved it! Although sound notify was [in the past] 'apparently' set up ok, evolution plug- in setting for sound notify had reverted(?) to 'beep'. Since re-setting all is now ok. My apologies again for any & all wasted effort.
