thank you cheesy_pizza for responding. i did realize that it was still
working in the background so i attempted to wait till the disk was no
longer being written to and then just shutdown (basically what you just
described haha) im now attempting to download xubuntu for a older laptop
of mine, will this happen with xubuntu also because its build on the
same base?

also it seems the server that hosts the distributions is down, haha all
kinds of problems for me huh? haha i guess ill have to wait to finish
downloading it ( im at 89% as we speak)

well have a good say, and thank you for your response. it makes me feel
good to be apart of a community where people actually acknowledge
eachother and keep in touch!

glitches with Dapper, that it did
that with some computers. Luckily though, it's still running (in almost
all cases)... wait about 30 minutes just so you can be sure it's
finished, press return a few times, wait another five minutes. If your
computer doesn't shut down itself by then, shut it down yourself, take
out the CD. When you boot up your computer, the distro should be for the
most part installed. There will still be some parts to finish, but if it
boots up fine, it means you've got it working. The screen thing is a
problem which thankfully has been addressed and won't happen in future
versions... but for this edition of ubuntu, some computers are just
going to have to be installed from the alternate disc with a bit of
temporary uncomfortable broken screen.

There were a bunch of problems with the installer and most of them have
been well addressed. Thanks for taking the effort to file a bug report
though.
