The problem went away when I removed the following directories from my home directory, which had been around and accumulating "stuff" since a clean Ubuntu install of 8.04 (32-bit): .compiz, .config and .gnome2 After the clean install I have upgraded to 8.10 and then to 9.04. Probably removing one of those directories would have been enough as well, but I didn't investigate which one is the culprit.
Thanks for the suggestion of collecting some more data to sort this out properly- when I have some time I'll see if I can reintroduce the problem, collect some debugging info and "fix" it again. -- Visual effects do not enable at start-up https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346870 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
