Binary package hint: pulseaudio
Plugging in the headphones mutes the speakers but there is no sound
passed to the headphone jack.

Karmic, PulseAudio 0.9.18-0ubuntu3
Worked fine in Jaunty, once I selected 'Surround Output' as an option
from the sound preferences.
There is no such option in the Karmic sound preferences. Using
pavucontrol I tried selecting surround as the audio profile, tried all
settings. Nothing works.
